Having coached 200+ people over the past few years, one thing I see over and over again is this:
Everyone is in a hurry, there is time for everything else but them selves
And trust me, I’ve been there too.
Big to-do lists.
One task after another—because being “busy” somehow made me feel like I was doing well in life and was important
But somewhere along this journey, I realized something important:
Slowing down isn’t a luxury. It’s a survival skill.
Not the surface-level “I’ll take a weekend off” kind of slow.
But the real kind—the kind where you let your body soften, your breath deepen, your mind quieten and you pause
And actually feel present in your own life.
Honestly ,Even our holidays now look like a checklist—places to cover, reels to post, selfies to take, places to eat , etc etc
But what about just being there truly present —without the urge to perform or show
There was a time in my life when I felt like a robot. Everything looked fine on the outside, but deep inside I felt empty, disconnected, numb.
I was in autopilot mode—constantly doing, achieving, performing.
And the sad truth? Most of us are stuck there.
We equate rest with laziness, busyness as an identity , gives us a feeling of importance and we rush through life—just to avoid the emotions we’ve buried under tasks.
Because once we slow down, the truth shows up—the exhaustion, the emptiness, everything you are running away from ….
So we keep running……
But what happens if we don’t slow down?
We burn out, we get cranky , emptiness , we start resenting things we once enjoyed……We feel invisible… even to ourselves.
I know this not just from coaching others—but from living it myself.
So now, I keep reminding myself (and my clients )
If you are always racing to the next moment , what happens to the one you are in .….. quoting Nanette Mathews
so now I intentionally have void moments – may be even if its just 30 minutes
Just space, doing nothing me and my breath
surprisingly, that’s when the clarity comes….That’s when my nervous system resets and mind calmmmmmmmsssss down
Yes you still work and still create ……But you do it from presence, not PRESSURE !
So here’s a simple practice for you today:
Set a timer for 5 minutes.
No phone. No multitasking. No overthinking.
Just sit with yourself. Breathe. Watch the sky , sip your coffee slowly
That’s it.
In a world that’s always rushing, slowing down is the most powerful thing you can do for yourself.
Because you deserve to live a life that’s felt—not just finished.
Love,
Sharada
